A Homecoming with the Mason Bates Cello Concerto
Oklahoma City native Joshua Roman returns to his home city for a performance of Mason Bates’s Cello Concerto with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic on Saturday, November 21. Joshua presented the "world-class world premiere” (Seattle Times) of the work — which was written for him — in December 2014 with the Seattle Symphony under Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla. Watch a short video documenting the premiere here. The evening's program, conducted by Oklahoma City Philharmonic Music Director Joel Levine, also includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, "Pastoral” and Frederick Delius's The Walk To The Paradise Garden in an arrangement by Sir Thomas Beecham.
